Service fees and charges

nbn™ New Development charge.
A New Development Charge will apply to the first connect order in a New Development Location. New Development Location means an nbn™ Serviceable location which is identified by nbn™ as being within the site boundary of a new development, for which nbn™ Co creates a new location ID; including new developments in brownfields areas. This charge is passed through from nbn™ and is charged as a result of the Telecommunications Infrastructure in New Developments Policy, issued by the Australian Government. It applies regardless of the technology type, plan or contract term selected. You will be informed when the charge is applicable and will be required to agree to the charge before the order will proceed, giving you an opportunity to inform your end user if you wish to pass the charge on.

Central Splitter information
* There are specific responsibilities that relate to the purchase and ownership transfer of a central splitter:
Business Technology Centre limits any liability it may have for or in connection with any goods or services provided in the course of nbn™ Co’s installation of a Central Splitter at the relevant End User’s premises, to using its best endeavours to:
(a) in the case of services, procuring nbn™ Co to supply the services again; and
(b) in the case of goods, to (at Business Technology Centres’ election) procuring nbn™ to replace the goods, supply equivalent goods or repair the goods within 2 years from the date of nbn™ Co’s installation of a Central Splitter.
By ordering a central splitter, you acknowledge that:
(a) nbn™ requires the transfer of title and risk of the Central Splitter to the End User immediately upon completing the installation, to avoid interference with churn, or other issues with moving and removing the Central Splitter; and
(b) title and risk in any Central Splitter supplied by nbn™ Co will pass from nbn™ Co to Business Technology Centre upon completion of the Professional Splitter Installation. Business Technology Centre will use reasonable endeavours to transfer title in the Central Splitter to you.
You must not:
(a) remove a Central Splitter that is installed on the nbn™ Co Network; or
(b) prevent, or impose conditions on, the use of any Central Splitter, after it ceases to be used in relation to a product of you.
What is the NBN?
The National Broadband Network (NBN) is a fibre network unlike traditional ADSL and ADSL2+ technologies which run over copper wires therefore the speed of NBN Fibre Broadband services is not affected by your distance to the local telephone exchange.
Can I change my bundle while in contract?
Yes. You can change your plan at any time as long as you do not drop below the original plan. Your contact term will continue uninterrupted.
- Upgrade your data pack at any time.
Is Uploads & Downloads counted in my data amount?
Yes. The data that you upload and download is combined in calculating your monthly data usage.
- If you use all of your data within a monthly period, we will slow you service to a slower speed (shaping).
- If you would like more data you can upgrade at anytime
- Data pack upgrades can take up to 48 hours to process.
- We'll notify you at 50%, 85% and 100% of your included data allowance, so you'll know how you're tracking.
Can I keep my telephone number?
Yes. You can switch your current line to BTC (port your line)
- Switching (porting) your line can take up to 30 days and you will continue to be billed by your current provider until the number is switched to BTC.
Will my medical alarm, security alarm or fax machine work on NBN?
Devices that are normally connected to the traditional phone lines can work with NBN. However, this may require internal wiring changes to make it work with NBN. You need to call the device provider to ask them what, if any, in-premises wiring changes are required, or if their device is compatible with NBN. Business Technology Centre does not support for issues associated to these third party devices.
Included in the activation fee
As part of the service activation fee we will include a pre configured NBN gateway.
Supports up to 2 telephone handsets (wired or cordless) or fax machine.
What happens after I place my order?
Once your order is received our provisioning team will verify your order details, then perform some additional checks on your order.
How long does it take to complete my order?
Please see the table below for estimates on order delivery times, we recommend viewing the 'More Information' link that relates to your order type so that you may view specific information regarding your service installation.
Our delivery time frames heavily depend on infrastructure available at your address, please note that these are provided to be a guide only, and are based on our average delivery times.

What if there are issues with my order?
Occasionally we may run into issues, this can happen at any stage of the install process. If this happens we will notify you via email, or call you ASAP to attempt to resolve whatever issue may have occurred.
When will I get my first bill?
You will be billed for your setup, activation and pro rata monthly charges, as soon as the service is activated.
You will then receive a monthly invoice at the beginning of each month.
An nbn™ contractor will need to visit your business premises to install the nbn™ Network Termination Device (NTD).
You will need to make sure someone, who is over 18 years of age and can accept responsibility for the work that will carried out, is available on the day of installation.
We will send you the equipment (pre provisioned) and you can plug the equipment in.
If you need additional support we can come to site and configure everything for you.
Fee for services will apply. $75 visit fee & $75 per half hour for labour. (ex GST)
We can provide the following services:

- IT Support – Configure your computer network and devices (smarphones, printers etc.)

Things To Know

- Prices displayed on this page exclusive of GST.
- Payment options include direct debit from a nominated savings, cheque or credit card account.
- A New Development Charge of $300 inc. GST is applicable to all NBN services if so deemed by the NBN Co as a new development. During the provisioning process you will be informed by Business Technology Centre if you your premises is deemed a new development and you can choose to proceed with your order.
- Service is billed monthly in advance.
- Service is not available in all areas.
- Plan is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
- 30 days' notice is required for cancellation of services.
- In most cases you are able to retain your current landline telephone number.
- Connection times vary depending on the pre-provisioning steps that have already been carried out by NBN Co for your premises. Once the order has been submitted we will contact you to advise you of the installation date.
- Timed calls are billed in 60 second increments.
- Both the NBN Broadband and NBN Phone services will be contracted for a 24 month term.
- Home phone features available may differ from your current provider.
- Calls to 13 & 1300 numbers are charged at 38¢ per call.
- An pro-rata early termination fee applies if you cancel within your contract term.
- You may change plans at any time during your contract.
- There is no charge to upgrade or downgrade your plan.
- Service connection time is between three and 14 working days. If you currently have an active service, in most cases you can continue to use it without service interruption.
- Data usage is counted in gigabytes where 1 gigabyte (GB) = 1000 megabytes (MB).
- Unused data is forfeited at the end of each billing month.
- Should you transfer your home phone to another provider within your contract period, you will be charged an early termination fee.
- If you use your monthly data allowance your service speed will be shaped to 256Kbps once you exceed your allocated data limit.

Information About The Service
BTC VoIP Phone on the nbn™ is a Voice over IP telephone service that is used to make and receive telephone calls over the nbn™.
Internet – Voice-over-Internet services will only ever be as reliable as the internet connection itself. Data/Signals sent over the internet are only as reliable and secure as the internet connection is able to guarantee.
Requirements and Availability
BTC VoIP Phone service is available only when paired with an active BTC nbn™ service. If your BTC nbn™ plan is
cancelled, your BTC VoIP Phone service will also be cancelled.
An IP handset (approved for use in Australia) is required to use BTC VoIP Phone. The telephone
handset is not provided by BTC unless otherwise specified in your application.
Once you take up a BTC VoIP Phone service on the nbn™, you can’t move back to a telephone service on the existing copper network.
Information About Pricing
- The minimum monthly charge is part of your Bundled plan with a BTC nbn™ and Telephone Line plan.
- The total minimum cost is calculated as follows. Monthly fee x 24 months plus the service activation fees plus call charges.
No setup fees are charged with for a BTC VoIP Phone.
BTC nbn™ and Telephone line plans do not have the ability to work over existing copper telephone cable. If you want to keep using any other phone sockets in your home, you will need to have other equipment installed. We can quote you on this BEFORE you make application. You will be responsible for the cost of any equipment and additional cabling work that is required.
If you cancel ther BTC VoIP phone or move the service away from BTC, before the contract term ends, you will be charged an early termination fee. The early termination fee is calculated as follows - Monthly fee x remaining number of months on the contract term.
A BTC VoIP phone service is delivered via the nbn™ and does not has the ability to work in a power outage.In order for your service to work in a power outage please be aware;
- You must have an active battery backup unit installed.
- Your calls will be automatically diverted to another number as nominated by you.
Please be aware that any existing services operating on your phone line may not work, such as back-to-base alarms, personal response systems, fax machines or EFTPOS. Please check with your device manufacturer or provider to see if the device is nbn™ compatible.

Dispute Resolution Process
If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your customer service request and wish to take the matter further, please email us at email@example.com, detailing your complaint.
All complaints MUST be in writing. We will respond to your complaint within 7 days of receiving a written complaint.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your complaint after following the above process, you may contact the TIO (Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman) for independent mediation. The TIO can be contacted by calling 1800 062 058 or visiting the TIO website at www.tio.com.au/making-a-complaint
Your Plan gives you access to an BTC nbn™ Service provided via the nbn™ .
The nbn™ is only available in areas where the nbn™ fibre network is available. We will do a service qualification of your premises to determine if you’re able to get access to the nbn™ .
Your new BTC nbn™ service can only be used at a single location.
We can provide you with additional BTC nbn™ plans if you would like to connect services to other locations where the nbn™ is available.
Contract Term - 24 Months
Early termination fee is calculated at the current monthly rate x remaining months
You can move to another available BTC nbn™ on the nbn™ plan once per billing cycle as your needs change at no charge and without restarting your minimum term.
This is outlined in the plan that you choose.
200GB – where 1 GB (Gigabyte) = 1,000 MB (Megabytes).
Your unused Monthly Data Allowance expires each month.
Only data downloaded from the internet is included in calculating
your data usage.
This is the Monthly Plan cost set out in your plan choice. You’ll need to pay more than the monthly plan cost if you exceed your Monthly Data Allowance.
You need a nbn™ compatible gateway to use your BTC nbn™ service.
We will provide a nbn™ compatible gateway as part of the activation fee of $225 es GST.
A $225 ex GST activation fee applies to get you up and running and includes an nbn™ gateway.
A minimum of two appointments are needed to connect your service, one with nbn™ and one with us. We’ll arrange both appointments.
If you require Professional Installation for your BTC nbn™ service. We will charge you a once-off fee of $225 ex GST for your Professional Installation for the first BTC nbn™ service you order at each site.
You may be charged more than this if the work required to connect your service is a non-standard installation, but the technician attending your premises will agree the additional charges with you before this work is carried out.
A standard installation of the nbn™ equipment is included. If your installation is non-standard, nbn™ will first discuss and obtain your agreement to any additional charges before starting the work. These charges will appear on your BTC bill.
Data charges are based on how much data you use when you access the internet.
If you use more than your Monthly Data Allowance, you’ll be charged $0.10 per MB.
Your BTC nbn™ service offers line speeds into the premise of up to 25Mbps download and upload speeds from the premises up to 5Mbps (NBN Speed Level 2). You can upgrade your speeds up to a maximum of:
• 100Mbps download and 40Mbps upload ( nbn™ Speed Level 5)
You can upgrade and downgrade your speed at any time.
The actual speed levels of your BTC nbn™ service will depend on a number of variables and may be slower than the maximum speed levels. They’ll depend on a number of factors including hardware and software configuration, source and type of content downloaded, whether you are connected by Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable, and the number of users and performance of interconnecting infrastructure not operated by us.
The total minimum amount that you’ll pay over the term of your plan is -
- Small 25/5 - $2130 ex GST - (including activation and installation fees).
- Medium 25/5 - $2610 ex GST - (including activation and installation fees).
- Unlimited 25/5 - $3810 ex GST - (including activation and installation fees).
- Small 100/40 - $2610 ex GST - (including activation and installation fees).
- Medium 100/40 - $2850 ex GST - (including activation and installation fees).
- Unlimited 100/40 - $4050 ex GST - (including activation and installation fees).
If your Plan is cancelled before your minimum term has ended, you must pay us an amount calculated as follows:
Minimum monthly charge x number of months (or part) remaining in your Plan term.
If you have an existing broadband service with BTC or another provider, moving to your BTC nbn™ service may mean you have to cancel your existing service. Once you move to your BTC nbn™ service, you will not be able to move back to your old broadband service or order a new non- nbn™ broadband service at that location.
Your BTC nbn™ service works through your gateway. Your Gateway doe sot come with a battery backup unit, which means that if your power goes out your BTC nbn™ service won’t work.
Also, if you bring your own gateway, it may not work if your power goes out.
The figures in this Critical Information Summary are for a full billing cycle but your first bill may include pro rata charges for part of the month if you started or changed your plan part way through a billing period – refer to the ‘Important information about your first bill’ section below for more information.

You will be billed each month, at the beginning of each month. You’ll be billed in advance for the
minimum monthly charge, as well as for use during the month.
Important information about your first bill
When you first start a plan or change your plan part way through a billing period, your first bill will include your minimum monthly charge in advance. It will also include a proportion of your minimum monthly charge based on the number of days left in the billing period. You’ll receive a full month’s data allowance.
When we create your service we will setup your Customer Portal Access. This will be emailed to your email address.
